Fake Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware programs, also called Rogue security software, are a form of computer malware that installs other malware, or deceives or misleads users into paying for the fake or simulated removal of malware.
Scammers prey on consumers who are concerned about protecting their machines by trying to “sell” them fake security software or by warning them that their computer has been infected and they have to pay to fix the problem. Scammers invite you to click on links in misleading pop-up and banner ads, or offer free downloads that have malware attached.
Only download, purchase, and use security software provided by established and well-known security vendors. Security software should only be purchased by going directly to the vendor’s legitimate website or through authorized retail outlets.
Fake Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware software has more than doubled since the first quarter of 2009, affecting around 69,000 people in the U.S. alone, McAfee Labs reports.
If you find yourself with Fake Anti-Virus software on your system and you can't get rid of it or are unsure if it has been removed we are here to help. We can run several scans on your system to clean it up.
If malware is deaply infected into your system we can provide a "Nuke and Pave" option. By being conscious on what your clicking on and what websites you go to, you can keep your system clean and running great.
